THE VENETIAN® AND THE PALAZZO® LAS VEGAS KICK OFF
CARNEVALE WITH MESE DI ARTE
3D artists, glassblowers, potters and living art featured throughout resorts June 4-30
LAS VEGAS (May 15, 2012) – The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas will kick off the quintessential summer festival, Carnevale, with Mese di Arte (Art Month) from June 4 through June 30. Throughout the month, the resorts will be transformed into an art gallery with unbelievable 3D chalk artists, glassblowers, potters, living art installations and an interactive Art Walk. All demonstrations will take place in The Palazzo Waterfall Atrium & Gardens daily from 1-6 p.m. and select art work will be available for purchase to take the magic of Carnevale home.
- June 4-30 –Guests can meander through the resorts on an Art Walk admiring one-of-a-kind pieces. The displays will begin in The Palazzo Waterfall Atrium & Gardens and continue to participating stores in The Grand Canal Shoppes and The Shoppes at The Palazzo. Brochures detailing the route and featured artists will be available to guests.
- June 4-10 – Master craftsman Dr. Robert Shield will demonstrate the intricate and revered art of glassblowing. Shield has produced glass creations for members of the British Royal Family and celebrities and teaches classes locally at the Studio Royal International Academy of Glass Blowing.
- June 11-17 – 3D artist Melanie Stimmel will create seemingly impossible works of art. Stimmel worked as lead technical director for “South Park” before discovering a passion for 3D street painting and has since founded the Street Painting Academy to teach children the time-honored tradition.
- June 18-23 – Thom Bumblauskas from Clay Arts Vegas will produce beautiful ceramics through demonstrations on the potter’s wheel. Bumblauskas has worked nationally as a scenic designer for film, theater and opera and his pieces have been shown and sold at art festivals and galleries throughout the western United States.
- June 24-30 – Art will come to life with living art installations and guests can take their photos with Mona Lisa or other classic masterpieces.
