The Art District in Las Vegas is growing into something wonderful. There are many opportunities to display two dimensional art, however, there are few, if any, where the art of ceramic pottery is showcased. Ceramics is one of the oldest art forms in human evolution. The molding of clay is something we are all familiar with. As children we played in the dirt and made mud pies. We used this time for personal growth and development. Las Vegas is in need of a place to create, study and observe work from local artists and artists from abroad.
After teaching students over the past several years it has become apparent that the art of clay and ceramics creates a feeling of community within the artists environment. By offering a location in the heart of the Las Vegas Art District, Clay Arts Vegas can bring this community of artists together and infuse added life and creativity in the area and community. Clay Arts Vegas offers a fully functional studio from the beginning of the creative process to galleries to display and showcase the art work created. This will allow local and visiting artists a place to draw patrons throughout the week on a regular basis, unlike First Friday. Clay Arts Vegas looks forward to helping to continue the development of the Las Vegas Arts District and hopes to make the district and the studio a featured destination for art lovers of all ages.
The development of the Las Vegas Art District has been curtailed by budget cuts. It is hoped that Clay Arts Vegas can help to fill this void and create a space to work, learn and offer gallery space for displaying student and professional ceramic art. Las Vegas is known as a transient city. By creating a space for like minded people to gather, Clay Arts Vegas can offer great art and patrons who can support the Las Vegas community.
